Living History Days at Arbor Lodge State Historical Park will kick off Sunday, Sept. 27. This Sunday’s theme is “Old Settlers Picnic.” Demonstrations will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. Mark Kemper will portray J. Sterling Morton, Royal Eckert will tell stories and Dan Holtz will provide music. The Otoe County Genealogical Society will also be on hand to help visitors trace their family history using ancestry.com. The mansion will be open from 11 to 5.
The 2009 Syracuse Germanfest Friday-Sunday, July 10-12, is the silver anniversary of the start of the celebration of the Syracuse area’s German heritage.

Limelight Community Stage will present ReLeasT at The Avenue Grill on Sunday, June 14, at 2 p.m.
The third annual model boat races are scheduled at the pond in Steinhart Park on Saturday, May 30.
Registration begins at 10 a.m. with races starting at 11 a.m. Crafts for children are also planned.
The boat races, organized by Michael Miller, are intended for all ages.
Remote control boats and sail boats are eligible. There are no entries for fuel-powered boats.
The Nebraska City Jaycees’ annual fireworks show at Steinhart Park is scheduled for Independence Day on Saturday, July 4, with a rain date on Sunday, July 5.
The show will feature 6,717 shells and 25 ground displays.
American Legion baseball games with Nebraska City playing Auburn are scheduled at 1 and 3 p.m. The Southeast Community Band will play from 7 to 8 p.m. at the ice cream social set to start at 7:30 p.m.
The Nebraska City City Council will meet tonight, May 18 at City Hall at 6 p.m.
