Knight volleyball picks up one of two at SE

Lourdes won one match and lost one in tournament action at Southeast Consolidated on Saturday.

The team opened with a dominating two-game win over the host team before dropping a two-game decision to Falls City Sacred Heart.

Lourdes was scheduled to open play at the MUDECAS tournament at Beatrice on Monday night.

Regardless of the result of that match, the Knights will return to action for a 4:30 p.m. match at Beatrice on Tuesday.

In other recent action, the Knights dropped a four-game road decision at Humboldt-TRS on Thursday night.

Game capsules from the Saturday and Thursday action follow.

Humboldt-TRS def. Lourdes, 25-23, 23-25, 25-17, 26-24

Game four chances slipped away as Lourdes fell in a road match against a Pioneer Conference opponent on Thursday night.

Lourdes fell in close decisions in games one and two, but bounced back for a game three win and had a lead as game four reached its final stages.

The Knights led 20-17 and 23-22, but Humboldt persevered on the way to a match -clinching victory.

Alyse Holmes led the Knights in kills with 15, while Haley Kreifels and Hanna Morrison had nine and eight kills.

Kreifels also had six ace serves, while Morrison was 16-of-16 with two aces.

Kreifels had the dig lead with 24, while Zoe Rickman had 13.

Kelsey Kreifels had 12 digs and set for 35 assists on 117-of-120 set attempts.

Morrison also had 12 digs.

Lourdes def. SE Consolidated, 25-7, 25-18

Alyse Holmes hit for six kills, while Zoe Rickman and Hanna Morrison had three each as Lourdes breezed past Southeast Saturday.

Kelsey Kreifels set for 13 assists and had five ace serves.

Morrison had nine digs, while Haley Kreifels had six.

Anna Haneline had two solo blocks.

Falls City Sacred Heart def. Lourdes 25-22, 25-17

The Knights fell in game one of its first meeting with Sacred Heart at the Weeping Water tourney, only to rally back and win the match.

Saturday’s meeting of the two teams saw Sacred Heart grab game one.

This time, there was no rally.

Coach Kreifels said the Knights were simply having an off match.

Nobody was playing to their usual capabilities.

It showed in the final numbers, as the Knights went without a service ace and made eight service errors.

Kelsey Kreifels had just seven set assists for the match, an indicator of offensive struggles.

Alyse Holmes led the Knights in kills with five.
