Kayelynn Tyson pitched the Nebraska City JV softball to a win over Auburn Tuesday.

The Nebraska City softball team picked up its second win of the season by topping Auburn, 9-1, Tuesday at the Nebraska City Softball Complex.

A four-run second frame put the Pioneers in control. A run in the fifth inning and four more in the sixth inning rounded out Nebraska City’s scoring. Auburn had its only run in the fourth frame.

Nebraska City ended the game with 10 hits.

Jeri Nuss, Shelby Scroggins and Amanda Sasse each had two hits. Jessica Hart had a double, and Kayelynn Tyson, Tesla Oldfield and Anna Hotsenpillar had one single each.

Kailey Mangum worked a complete game on the mound. She allowed one earned run on two hits, struck out nine and walked one.

Auburn pitching accounted for two strikeouts.

Nebraska City, 2-3, was scheduled to play at Bellevue East Thursday night before returning to action at home at 9 a.m. Saturday for a triangular with Gretna and Plattsmouth.
