Nebraska City and Syracuse played elimination games at the Class B Area One American Legion Juniors baseball tournament at Auburn Saturday.
Beatrice topped Nebraska City, 4-1, while the Syracuse team picked up a 14-3 win over Crete.
Syracuse will next play at 2 p.m. Sunday in an elimination game against Beatrice.
The winner of the Sunday game will play at 6 p.m. Monday against the loser of a winner’s clash between Fairbury and Falls City.
The Falls City-Fairbury winner will await the winner of the Monday game for what could be a championship doubleheader on Tuesday.
Should Syracuse win Sunday and Monday, the Rockets would play at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday against the Falls City-Fairbury winner. In order to win the tournament title and advance to state, Syracuse would need to claim a win in the 5:30 p.m. gam,e and in a second game to be played at 8 p.m.
Class B Juniors state tournament action begins Friday at Nebraska City.
The Nebraska City team will be included in the state bracket by virtue of its status as the host of the event.
