A five-game winning streak had the Rocket American Legion Juniors baseball team heading for the area tournament with momentum on their side Wednesday.
The tourney was scheduled to open with the Rockets taking on Nebraska City at 12 p.m. Wednesday at Auburn.

Syracuse won five games last week, the final one coming in a rout at Weeping Water Sunday. Other wins came against Lincoln Christian, Nehawka, Springfield and York.
Counting those results, the Rockets’ record, pre-area tournament, stood at 16-5.
Rockets 14, Christian 6
Adam Vogt pitched four innings and Tyler Schwindt closed the game in relief as the Rockets won a run-rule shortened game against Lincoln Christian.
Vogt allowed three hits and struck out six during his time on the mound.
Mike Campbell was the offensive leader for the Rockets, going 4-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored.
Other contributors were Vogt, 2-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored; Quentin Danner, 2-for-2 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored; Nate Stilmock, 2-for-2 with a double two runs scored and two RBI; and Nick Reed, 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored.
Sean Johanns had a hit, walked and scored, while Tyler Wellman walked four times and scored twice. Schwindt walked and scored.
