Juniors win three of four

The Syracuse American Legion Juniors baseball squad picked up three wins in four games last week.

After beating Lincoln Lutheran on Tuesday, the Rockets topped Bennett on Wednesday, fell at Nebraska City Thursday and bounced back with a win at Plattsmouth on Sunday.

Syracuse was scheduled to return to action for a Tuesday home game against Lincoln Christian.

Other upcoming games include a 6 p.m. Wednesday meeting with Nehawka at home and a 6 p.m. Thursday game at Springfield.

The team will travel to play a Junior only doubleheader at York at 5:30 p.m. Friday before closing out the regular season schedule with a 5 p.m. game at Weeping Water Sunday.

District action opens Wednesday, June 16, at Auburn with Syracuse taking on Nebraska City at 12 p.m.

Rockets 11, Lutheran 1

Nick Reed threw four innings of one hit and one run ball, struck out six and walked three to lead the Rockets past Lincoln Lutheran last Tuesday.

Sean Johanns worked the final inning and struck out one.

Nate Stilmock went 3-for-3 with a double, three RBI and a run scored.

Adam Vogt had three hits, including a double, scored three times, drove in one and was credited with a sacrifice.

Quentin Danner had two hits, one of them a double, drove in two runs and scored twice.

Mike Campbell had two hits, one of them a double, and scored twice. Cody Robinson hit a double, drove in two and was credited with a sacrifice.

Jake Royal had a hit. Alex Hinkley and Jon Draeger each had a hit and scored a run.

Nick Reed had an RBI and a run scored. Johanns had a sacrifice and an RBI.

Rockets 30, Bennett 0

Nate Stilmock had two home runs, a double, a single and eight RBI to lead the Rocket offense.

Mike Campbell had two doubles, a single and nine RBI.

Other leaders were Adam Vogt, two doubles, a single and five RBI, and Sean Johanns, a home run, two walks and four RBI.

Mike Bowersmith had a single and two RBI and Nick Reed had a double.

Stilmock and Johanns combined to pitch the win.

Nebraska City 13, Rockets 4

Syracuse battled back from a seven run first inning deficit to trail by just four before home- standing Nebraska City pulled away for the win.

Cody Robinson pitched and took the loss.

Sean Johanns hit three times, while Nate Stilmock had a double and Alex Hinkley hit a single.

Rockets 10, Plattsmouth 8

Four players had two hits as the Rockets beat Plattsmouth.

Adam Vogt and Nate Stilmock each had a double, a single and two RBI. Sean Johanns had a double and a single and Mike Bowersmith had two hits and two RBI.

Cody Robinson had a double. Other hits were by Mike Campbell and Jon Draeger.

Robinson scored twice. Players scoring once were Alex Hinkley, Vogt, Stilmock, Campbell, Johanns, Quentin Danner, Draeger and Bowersmith.

Hinkley pitched the win and Stilmock had the save.

Correction

A story regarding the Rockets June 21 win over Lincoln Lutheran at Sherman Field listed the wrong pitcher as the winning pitcher. Mike Campbell pitched the win for the Rockets.
