Ronald R. “Ron” Schreiner

Ronald R. “Ron” Schreiner, 69, Nebraska City, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at his home. He was born May 24, 1938, at Fort Collins, Colo.., son of Ray Louis and Arlene Lucille (McMullen) Schreiner. The Schreiner family later moved to Nebraska City where he attended school.

He married Sally Thornhill April 16, 1962, at Nebraska City. She died in October 1962. He married Jeanine Durr Sept. 21, 1963, at Nebraska City.

Schreiner was a 1955 Nebraska City High School graduate and attended Nebraska Business College for a year. He served six years in the National Guard.

Schreiner worked at American Meter then owned and operated Ron’s Bar 27 years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City; the Eagles; Elks; Knights of Columbus and Relay for Life.

Surviving are five children, Ricky, Beatrice; Randy and wife Pam, LaVista; Cherie Welter and husband John, Augusta, Ga.; David and wife Belinda, Nebraska City; and Jeff and wife Angie, Lincoln; 11 grandchildren; sisters, Judy Bell, Lincoln; Jill Kruger, Nebraska City and Deb Peterson, Carrollton, Ga.; brother, Jack and wife Lisa, Hastings; special friend, Patty; and other family members and friends.

Services will be Friday, May 16, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Nebraska City. Father Mark Cyza will officiate. Interment will be at Wyuka Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Otoe County Relay for Life.
