Friday, April 25, there were 11 Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca High School students inducted into the school’s National Honor Society (NHS) chapter.
The ceremony concluded the 22nd annual Honors Night sponsored by the S-D-A NHS chapter.
Seniors Rachel Bond and Derek Rowe; juniors Kelby Goering, Ellie Jacobson, Alex Landwehr and Scott Wiebusch; and sophomores Elizabeth Burr, Quentin Danner, Julie Isaacs, Emily Moss and Kayla O’Bryan were selected by a faculty council for meeting high standards of scholarship, service, leadership and character. Honorees must have at least a three-point grade point average. They must also show considerable involvement in school and community activities.
Ellen Neels was 2007-08 NHS president; Blaise Scheef, vice president; and Courtney Burr, secretary.
Saturday, May 10, 14 current members graduate: Courtney Burr, Taylor Cameron, Christian Cole, Carla Emerson, Chelsey Hansen, Beth Isaacs, Catie McLey, Ellen Neels, Kelly Neels, Eric Post, Blaise Scheef, Holly Sitzman, Andrew Snodgrass and Sarah Wellman.
Returning in 2008-09 are: Traci Bassinger, Brett Copley, Natalie Hauschild, Matt Hickman, Jackie Kreifels, Alexa Krieger, Kirsten Lewis, Alexis Seelhoff, Hillary Stubbendick, Thomas Volkmer, Rachel Watermeier, Louise Wellensiek and Emily Zahn.
