The city council is working to repair several street problems that have sprouted in recent months.

Work will soon begin at the intersection of “K” Street and Bluff Street where the curb is buckling, causing the street to erode.

City Engineer Steve Perry said during the council meeting that, when he visited the site last Tuesday, he saw significant undermining.

“Due to the emergency nature of the project, I have given the contractor the go ahead,” he said.

Advertising for bids will begin next week for the Washington/Libby Street project.

The council also discussed Main Street repairs needed in front of the baseball diamond.

During a special meeting, Perry said portions of the street would have to be removed, reconstructed and rebuilt, costing about $140,000.

“I guess our next step is to see where we can find the money,” council member Kent Benefiel said. “That’s going to take some looking at the budget.”
