Nebraska City's Aaron Conner qualified in three events and the S-D-A Rockets had multiple qualifiers in multiple events during Thursday's district action at Plattsmouth. The Nebraska City girls scored two points at the meet and the boys' team picked up a seventh place team finish and 24 points thanks largely to the efforts of Conner.
S-D-A was fifth on the girls' side, 54 points, and second on the boys' side, 89 points. Norris won the girls' meet, 95 points, and host Plattsmouth picked up 154 points to lead the boys' teams.
Alex Landwehr, Rockets, qualified in the shot with a first place throw of 39'3.25" and took third in the discus, 110'8". She will compete in the shot at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, and in the discus at 12 p.m. Friday, May 16.
Ellen Neels, Rockets, scored third in the 200 meters, 26.3, and was fourth in the 100 meters, 12.8. She will compete in prelims for the 100 and 200 meters at 10:25 a.m. and 1:35 p.m. Friday, May 16. If she qualifies for the finals those races would be at 12:30 p.m. and 3:40 p.m. Saturday, May 17.
Rockets Megan Farley, Jenny Bennett, Mackenzie Scheef and Candice Carlson ran a 4:17.3 to take second and qualify for state in the 1600 meter relay and will compete at 4:10 p.m. Saturday, May 17.
Kody Rich, Rockets, vaulted 12'7" and finished second. He will compete at state at 9 a.m. Friday, May 16.
Nick Reed, Rockets, will compete at state at 9 a.m. Friday, May 16, after taking second in the triple jump, 42'1".
Thomas Volkmer, Rockets, won the shot at districts, 55'11.5" and took second in the discus, 142'3". He will compete in the shot at 9 a.m. Friday, May 16, and the discus at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 17.
Jake Welter, Rockets, qualified with a first place 11.5 in the 100 meters and a fourth place 23.10 in the 200 meters. He will compete at 10:35 a.m. and 1:35 p.m. in the prelims on Friday, May 16. If he qualifies for the finals, he will race at 12:30 p.m. and 3:40 p.m. Saturday, May 17.
Aaron Conner, Pioneers, and Lance Wolken, Rockets, finished second and third in the 400 meters with times of 52.2 and 52.5. The pair will compete in the prelims at 11:15 a.m. Friday, May 16. Qualifiers will race in the finals at 12:55 p.m. Saturday, May 17.
Grand Aden, Rockets, ran second in both the 1600, 4:38.3, and 3200, 10:10.7, at districts. He will compete in the 3200 meter run at 11:55 a.m. Friday, May 16, and the 1600 meter run at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 17.
Aaron Conner, Pioneers, will compete in the110 meter high hurdles at state. He ran a fourth place time of 15.5, at districts. The 110 meter hurdle prelims will be at 10:15 a.m. Friday, May 16. Qualifiers race in the finals at 12:15 p.m. Saturday, May 17.
Conner also qualified in the 300 meter hurdles, a race he finished second in at the district meet with a time of 40.8. The state prelims will be at 1:15 p.m. Friday, May 16, with qualifiers racing in the finals at 3:25 p.m. Saturday, May 17.
Rockets Andrew Neels, Thomas Volkmer, Adam Vogt, and Jake Welter will run the 400 meter relay at state. The foursome ran 44.5 for first at districts. The state event will be at 10:45 a.m. Saturday, May 17.
Rockets Jeremy Wilkinson, Ryan Callahan, Lance Wolken and Grant Aden ran second in the district for the 3200 relay in a time of 8:26.9 and will compete in the event at state at 9 a.m. Friday, May 16.
