Eileen L. (Simerl) Cure, 88, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Western Hills Health Care Center, Lakewood, Colo. She was born April 4, 1920, at Fowler, Kan., daughter of Charles and Mary (Thomas) Simerl. She married William E. Cure Sept. 2, 1941, at Fowler, Kan. He died in 1994.

Cure and her husband lived in Kansas until 1948, when they moved to a farm south of Seibert, Colo. In 1954, they moved to a farm north of Stratton, Colo. where she was an able helpmate, and devoted wife and mother. When they retired from the farm in 1986, they moved to a home in town. After her husband’s death, Cure moved into the Beehive Assisted Living Home in Stratton in 2001 where she lived until she moved to Lakewood.

Cure was a longtime member of M.S.A Club; a 4-H leader; served in altar and rosary societies and other groups; and an avid gardener, she raised roses and joined the Stratton Garden Club after she moved into town. Cure enjoyed the many sports and school activities of her grandchildren.

Surviving are seven children: Charles and wife Karen, Arizona; Elizabeth Riley, Kansas; Ethel Martin and husband Jerry, Stratton, Colo.; Robert and wife Dee, Commerce City, Colo.; David and wife Debbie, Fort Collins, Colo.; Denis and wife Vickie, Stratton; and Ronald and wife Lisa, Washington; 27 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; three step-great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides her husband, Cure was preceded by two infant sons, one infant granddaughter, her parents; a sister, Ethel and a brother, Ray.

Services were Wednesday, April 30, at St. Charles Catholic Church, Stratton, Colo. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Stratton, Colo.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Charles Catholic Church Building Fund or the Stratton Ambulance Service.

Love Funeral Home, Burlington, Colo., was in charge of arrangements.
