Scott E. Bassinger

Scott E. Bassinger, 54, Unadilla, died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at his home. He was born Aug. 25, 1953, at Nebraska City, son of Miner and Helen Bassinger. He married Cindy Phillips July 14, 1974.

Bassinger grew up in the Talmage and Cook areas. He was a 1971 Nemaha Valley High School graduate. After his marriage, he and his wife moved to Unadilla. Bassinger worked 35 years for Gartner Construction Company.

He enjoyed working on vehicles, going fishing, and taking family vacations. He enjoyed his grandchildren, visiting with friends at TR Mart, and dancing with his wife.

Surviving are his wife, Cindy, Unadilla; daughter, Angela Oestman and husband John, McKinney, Texas; sons, Terry and wife Angela, Dunbar, and Adam and wife Jennifer, Syracuse; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth, Arizona; 10 grandchildren, Zachery, Allie, Ethan, James, Lilah, Scott, Lorelei, Miriam, Tucker and Dylan; seven sisters; four brothers; aunts; uncles; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded by his parents; son, Miner; and sister, Dawn Kerry, who died April 30..

Services will be Tuesday, May 6, at 4:15 p.m. at the Unadilla School gymnasium. The Rev. Richard Dimond will officiate. Interment will be at the Unadilla Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the family.
