Helen M. Tuning

Helen M. Tuning, 95, Syracuse, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center. She was born Aug. 19, 1912, at Arcadia, Neb., daughter of Samuel E. and Katherine (Pflaster) Brown. She married Arnold E. Tuning.

Tuning worked at the Arcadia grocery store and drove a school bus. After she moved to Lincoln she worked for Russell Stover Candies. Tuning was a member of the Eastern Star since April 1946, was a 4-H leader and loved to play cards.

Surviving are sons, Bill, Lincoln, Jim and Deloris (Ann) Tuning, Centralia, Wash., and David and Donna, Goldendale, Wash; daughter, Pam and husband Dale Henke, Syracuse; eight grandchildren, William, Michelle, D.J., Douglas Tuning and James Tuning; and Stacy, Suzanne and Scott Sawyer; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents; husband; two sons, Dennis Dale and Robert Allen; brothers, Harry, Jack and Robert; and sisters, Sophie, Kathleen, Carolene and Roejean.

Graveside services will be Thursday, May 1, at 1 p.m. at the Arcadia, Neb., Cemetery. The Rev. Janet Burgel will officiate.

Interment will be grandsons, William, Douglas, James and D.J. Tuning and Scott Sawyer.

Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.

Fusselman-Wymore Funeral Home, Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.
