Bernice M. Fahrenholtz

Bernice M. Fahrenholtz, 84, of Nebraska City, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at the Ambassador - Nebraska City. Bernice M. Huss was born on Sept. 13, 1923 in Nebraska City, daughter of Henry Hans and Edith Marie (Behrends) Huss. On Oct. 5, 1940, Bernice and Chester Allen Fahrenholtz married in Falls City.

Bernice had worked for the School for the Visually Handicapped, St. Mary’s Hospital and Ocoma Foods, all in Nebraska City. She retired in 1989. She was active and enjoyed being with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 22, 1991; brothers Walter Huss, Vernon Huss and Billie Huss; and sister-in-law Evelyn Huss.

She is survived by her children: Larry Fahrenholtz and wife Georgia of Hastings, Carol Wells and husband John of Eagle, Sharon Rippe of Lincoln, and Robert Fahrenholtz and wife Debbie of Cumberland, R.I.; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; sister Gladys Pieper of Lincoln; sisters-in-law: Betty Huss of Eagle and Carol Huss of Des Moines, Iowa; cousins; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

Viewing and visitation will be on Sunday, April 27, at 2 p.m. with the family greeting family and friends from 3-5 p.m. at Peterson Mortuary Chapel.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 28, at 11 a.m. at Peterson Mortuary Chapel with Rev. John Cotton officiating. Burial will follow at the Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City. Memorials may be directed to the Christ Lutheran Church.
