John W. Krager, 86, Syracuse, died Sunday, April 20, 2008, at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center. He was born Jan. 24, 1922, at Bynumville, Mo., son of Luther and Lillie Krager. He married Marjorie Brotherton Feb. 17, 1945, at Lincoln. She died Feb. 15, 2004.
Krager served 29 years in the U.S. Air Force. He was a dealer and builder for Wick Homes. Krager was a member of the Syracuse Lions Club, served as Lions district governor, was a director of Syracuse Foundation, Inc., a member of the Syracuse United Methodist Church and the Syracuse Community Improvement Program Committee.
Surviving are sons, Bob, Jefferson City, Mo.; and Bill and wife Carol, Brooksville, Fla.; daughter, Linda Augustyn and husband Tim, Omaha; grandchildren, Erik and Justin Krager; Stephen and Jeanette Augustyn; and Kevin, Matthew and Kristen Augustyn; and brothers, Melvin and Roy.
Besides his wife, Krager was preceded by his parents; four sisters and four brothers.
Services will be Thursday, April 24, at 10:30 a.m. at the Syracuse United Methodist Church. The Rev. Richard Dimond will officiate. Graveside service will be April 24 at 2 p.m. at Lincoln Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be grandson, Erik and Justin Krager; and Stephen and Matthew Augustyn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin and Kristen Augustyn.
Betty Sautter is organist. There will be congregational singing.
U.S. Air Force full rites will be conducted.
Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Society, Syracuse or the Syracuse United Methodist Church.
