Wayne Leonard Anthony

Wayne Leonard Anthony, 67, of Nebraska City, died at St. Mary’s Community Hospital in Nebraska City on April 16, 2008. He was born April 11, 1941 in Omaha to Leonard and Violet (Anderson) Anthony. He married Mary Jane Folkerts on Jan. 27, 1963 in Talmage.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Anthony of Nebraska City; sons Shane Anthony and wife Kyna of St. Charles, Mo., and Blane Anthony and wife Emily of Talmage; one granddaughter, Gretchen Anthony; brother Warren Anthony and wife Joan of Elkhorn; sister Joyce Madsen of Omaha; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harvey and Mary Folkerts of Rochelle, Ill.; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Raymond Madsen; and parents-in-law, Harvey and Aleta Folkerts.

He lived in Talmage before moving to Nebraska City four years ago.

He worked as an accountant for various local accounting firms for several years prior to his retirement.

He formerly served in the Nebraska National Guard.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Talmage of which he served on the church board and taught Sunday school; Talmage American Legion; past treasurer for Respite; member of Nebraska City Rotary Club; and served on the Talmage Rural Fire Department Board of Directors.

He loved music, farming, outdoors, family and friends.

Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Friday at Marshall Funeral Chapel with the family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, at Faith Lutheran Church in Talmage. Rev. Douglas Allen, Rev. Marsha Anderson and Rev. William Dressen will officiate.

Burial will be at St. Paul Cemetery, Talmage.

Pallbearers are Kenneth Kruse, Keith Edmonds, Jerry LaVigne, Ray Gadeken, Craig Schroeder, Doyle Schroeder, Ben Burns, Don Wittler and Paul Peterson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Faith Lutheran Sunday School or Talmage Fire Department.
