Danny Dean Dappen, 56, of Rapid City, S.D. and formerly of Nebraska City, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City. He was born Jan. 30, 1952, in Nebraska City to Merle Gene and Nadine Esther (Curry) Dappen.
He graduated from Nebraska City High School then the University of Nebraska in 1976 with an M.B.A. in marketing and management. He worked in business in Minneapolis, Minn., and Lawrence, Kan., before retiring in South Dakota to be near his sister, Donna.
He was preceded in death by his father on Jan. 9, 1977; mother on July 24, 2007, several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his sister, Donna Johnson of Rapid City; niece Ericka Meyer and husband Kevin of Portland, Ore.; two aunts, Francis Curry of Warsaw, Mo., and Darlene Banasik of Sheraton, Iowa; other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 14, at 10 a.m. with the family greeting family and friends from 10 a.m. until service time at Peterson Mortuary Chapel.
Memorial service will be held on Monday, April 14, at 11:30 a.m. at Peterson Mortuary Chapel. The family will hold a private interment of ash at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City at a later date.
Memorials are suggest to the first Christian Church in Nebraska City.
Peterson Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
