Police are investigating three cases of home burglaries in Nebraska City on Thursday night or early Friday morning.

A laptop computer was reported stolen from a house on the 1400 block of First Avenue, and money was stolen from a house at the 800 block of Second Avenue. A laptop is also missing from a house on the 400 block of north Eighth Street.

Captain Lonnie Neeman said access to the homes was gained through unlocked doors. In at least one of the cases, the occupants of the home were asleep during the burglary. Police say other items may have been stolen, but the home owners had not discovered them missing yet.

Neeman urged citizens to protect their property by locking the doors to their houses and cars and not keeping valuables in their vehicles.
