Amanda Cooley’s penalty kick held up for the Nebraska City girls’ soccer team in a 1-0 win over Eastern Midlands Conference and district foe Waverly Tuesday afternoon on the Pioneers’ field at Red Fox Run.

Cooley’s successful penalty kick was set up by a Waverly foul against Cooley at the 2:59 mark of the first half.

With the win, Nebraska City raised its season mark to 1-2, while Waverly fell to 2-1.

The Pioneers are scheduled to return to action at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Beatrice. Varsity teams will play first, followed by junior varsity.
