Ryan Haaland recently joined the Davis Brown Law Firm Ames office as special counsel with a general practice. He works with clients in a variety of areas, but has a stronger focus on real estate, estate planning and probate administration, and business formation and counseling.

Prior to joining Davis Brown, Ryan was a solo practitioner in Nevada. He counseled clients on a variety of matters including criminal law, real estate transactions, wills and estates, contract law, landlord/tenant disputes, civil litigation, business law and family law.

Ryan currently serves as a judicial magistrate in Story County, where he has jurisdiction over cases involving small claims, simple misdemeanors and mental health commitments. In that role, he implemented a small claims mediation pilot project for Story County.

Ryan earned a J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University.
