Commissioners will hold public hearings regarding an application for a Class C liquor license from Pioneer Holdings LLC., doing business as Sandy’s Sports Bar & Volleyball, and on the renewal and revision of the Nebraska City Economic Development Program, also known as LB840 program, during tonight’s Nebraska City City Council meeting at 6 p.m. in City Hall, located at 1409 Central Ave.
Commissioners will also discuss and-or take action on the following agenda items during tonight’s meeting:

Authorizing the mayor to sign a Kearney Hill Project Extension agreement with the Nebraska Department of Economic Development; Waiving the fee of the Steinhart Pond shelter for a Cub Scout Pack 353 fishing recruitment night Aug. 24 from 6 to 8 p.m.; A proclamation in remembrance of community leader Bill Carroll; Confirmation and swearing in of Erv Friesen to the Public Works Commission; Introduction of a new Nebraska City Police Department sergeant; A Class C liquor license for Pioneer Holdings LLC., doing business as Sandy’s Sports Bar & Volleyball, located at 703 S. 11th St.; Resolution No. 2712-16 for the approval of the LB840 program renewal; The closure of 7th Street from 1st Corso North to the alley for parking of the Arbor Shrine Club’s fire truck after the annual AppleJack Parade Sept. 17; The closure of 5th Avenue from 16th to 17th streets for a family reunion block party Sept. 17 from 5 p.m. to midnight; Consideration of a general waiver of sidewalk permit requirements during the AppleJack weekend from Sept. 17 to Sept. 18; An update from Jeffrey Sockel of Alfred Benesh & Co. regarding the 11th Street project; Approval of CGI videos to be used as the city’s social media and Web site tools; And consideration of a $32,500 counter offer from Ryan and Heidi McConnell for lots 1A and 1B of the Deer Trail Subdivision for building of a private residence.
