  • Pioneer volley set for Thursday scrimmage

  • The first match of the 2014-15 season for the Nebraska City volleyball team is still over a week away, but Pioneer fans won’t have to wait until the team’s Sept. 4 meeting against Gretna to see the players in action.
    Nebraska City is planning to scrimmage from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the high school.
    Varsity players for the season have already been selected. Those players are Megan Aultz, Blair Benton, Jennica Harrah, Erica Hollesen, Shady Hollesen, Becky Lant, Maya Mercer, Jessica Rose, Kelsie Stovall, Shelby Trew and Brenna Turner.
    Nebraska City’s first three dates of the season have the team playing on the road for a match against Gretna at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 4. The team plays at 8 a.m. on Sept. 6 at the Plattsmouth Invite and travels for a Sept. 9 clash at Norris. The team’s first home action will be at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11 against Elkhorn South.
