NEBRASKA CITY – Nebraska City Baptist Church held its grand opening kickoff service at 11 a.m. on Aug. 17.
The new church, located at 1422 1st Corso,  is pastored by William Ramage, a Nebraska City native.
According to a press release from the church, Ramage recently returned to his hometown to start the church after 23 years. The pastor said "military service and a variety of ministry duties" were what kept him from his hometown for more than two decades.
The church will emphasize evangelism and biblical preaching and teaching, and the Great Commission will be the mission of the church.
“Somewhere around 12 or 13 years ago, while a student in Bible College, I begin contacting churches in the area to find out what they were doing to reach their community and the world with the Gospel," Ramage said. "After receiving disappointing responses, and/or lack thereof, this became a matter of personal prayer for me. Now, here we are starting the church.”
