  • A 6-0 sophomore transfer outside hitter, from Gretna, became the 13th recruit for the Peru State Bobcat volleyball team. Rian Kirby, a member of the Gretna Dragons' 2012 team which finished as the Nebraska Class B State Championship Runner-ups, has transferred from Morningside College to Peru State.
Kirby, the daughter of Holly and Jeremy Kirby, plans to major in biology at Peru State.  As a senior, Kirby earned honorable mention recognition in the Lincoln Journal Star's All-State Volleyball honors.  The Dragons pushed the perennially-tough Grand Island Northwest team to five sets in the championship game.

At Morningside, Kirby played in nine matches for the Mustangs.  She finished the 2013 season averaging 1.39 kills per set and had a season-best seven kills in just two sets against Dakota State (S.D.) while hitting .316.

Kirby and the Bobcat team began practices on Monday.  Peru State will open their season by hosting a tournament on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 22 and 23.
