  • Household hazardous waste collections set for Aug. 22 and 23

    Five Rivers Resource Conservation and Development, Inc., will conduct household hazardous waste collections Aug. 22 and 23.
    The collections are made possible through financial assistance from the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality Waste Reduction and Recycling Program and other assistance from the Nemaha NRD, Lower Big Blue NRD, and Jefferson, Cass, Otoe, Nemaha, Johnson, Pawnee, Richardson, Saline Counties.
    Other Partners include the Great Plains Resource, Conservation and Development (RC&D), Midwest Farmer’s CO-OP, Ash Grove Cement, and Wiles Brothers Inc.
    The following is a list of collection locations:
     
    Otoe County – Syracuse
    Location: County Shop North of HWY 2 on HWY 50

    Items accepted include old paint, pesticides and herbicides, cleaning chemicals, fluorescent light bulbs, antifreeze, yard and garden chemicals.  
    Items including tires, electronic equipment, appliances, PCBs, picric acid, science lab materials, radioactive materials or biological hazards will not be accepted.
    Five Rivers RC&D is requested a $5 per household donation.
