Thomas F. Funke II, age 48 of Lincoln, NE (formerly Nebr. City) passed away on Monday, August 4, 2014 in rural Mullen, NE.
Tom was born on July 3, 1966 in Nebraska City, NE; the son of Thomas F. and Dorothy M. (Heng) Funke. He attended school at Lourdes Central Catholic and graduated with the Class of 1984. He then went to the University of Nebraska - Lincoln and received his bachelor’s degree in 1989.
He was united in marriage to Tammie S. Vlasin on November 8, 2008 in Nebraska City. Tom owned and operated Paper Tiger Shredding Company in Lincoln.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Tammie Funke of Lincoln, NE; children: Lauren N. Funke, Mia P. Funke and Reese H. Funke all of Lincoln, NE; parents Thomas and Dorothy Funke of Nebr. City, NE; siblings: Deb Rettig and husband Kevin of Nebr. City; Jeff Funke and wife Hettie of Nebr. City and Ryan Funke and wife Lisa of Lincoln, NE; many nieces and nephews; mother-in-law: Jo-Jayne Wielage of Crete, NE and father-in-law Tom Vlacin of Milwaukee, WI; sister-in-law Shelley Poore and husband Kyle of Lincoln, NE and brother-in-law Craig Vlacin of Crete, NE; other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 8, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City with Fr. Michael McCabe officiating. Burial will follow the services at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Nebraska City.
A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Thursday evening (8/7) at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Memorials may be given to Lourdes Central Catholic School Endowment.
