  • Food and 4-H’ers are a natural combination.  Learning about food preparation and nutrition through a 4-H project can be fun for any boy and girl.
Developing good food and nutrition habits that last a lifetime is the primary goal of each 4-H food and nutrition project.
4-H’ers will have their 4-H Food entries judged on Saturday, August 9 beginning at 8 a.m. at the Kimmel Event Center on the Otoe County Fairgrounds in Syracuse.
There will be a 4-H Food Sale of the 4-H food entries starting at 9 a.m. in the Kimmel Event Center and going until all food is sold or until 12 noon.  The public is invited to the bake sale and to enjoy the results of the 4-H’ers efforts.
Proceeds from the bake sale will benefit the 4-H’ers in food projects.
Fashion Show and Performing Arts Contest
The Otoe County 4-H Fashion Show and Performing Arts Contest will be held Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at the Kimmel Event Center.
The 4-H’ers in clothing projects will model their garments for the audience. The 4-H Fashion Show represents the completion of many hours of hard work to achieve a quality garment.
4-H’ers from all across Otoe County will be also be showcasing their talents in vocal music and instrumental music during the evening.
The public is invited to attend the 4-H Fashion Show and Performing Arts Contest to see the many talents of our county 4-H’ers.
    4-H Specialty Food Auction
A special event at the 2014 Otoe County Fair is the 4-H Specialty Food Auction.  The 4-H Specialty Food Auction will be held Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the Kimmel Event Center.
4-H’ers have the opportunity to bake a specialty food and auction the item off, with half of the proceeds going to the 4-H’er and the other half going to the Otoe County 4-H Foundation.
Mark Easter of Mark Easter Auctioneering and President of the Otoe County 4-H Foundation will be auctioning the specialty food items.
