  • Peru State football seniors Tyler Ford (Lincoln) and Shane Lloyd (Ridgecrest, Calif.) have been named to the Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL) 2014 Preseason All-American Football Teams, which was announced on Wednesday, July 30. Ford was named to First Team Offense and teammate Lloyd was named to Third Team Defense.
The team was selected by the "D2 vs. NAIA Challenge" Bowl committee and the 2015 "Team America" coaching staff. It is based upon player nominations and evaluations made by college coaches, college sports information directors, regional scouts and media personnel. The CDFL is honored to showcase the 2014 preseason All-American players and to sponsor the annual "D2 vs. NAIA Challenge" to be held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Saturday, December 20, 2014. The selected players are on the watch list for invitation to this game.
In addition, these players will be evaluated for selection to the roster for "Team America" that will be representing the USA in scheduled International bowl games in 2015. "Team America" is the only privately funded USA National team representing free agents and promoting American football on an international level. The 2015 schedule includes contests in New York vs. Canada, Grand Cayman Island, Myrtle Beach vs. Europe and New Orleans vs. Mexico. In 2014, over 300 players will participate in the CDFL's "National Scouting Showcase" (NSS) consisting of four games designed to present opportunity to top senior talent on the FCS, D2, D3 and NAIA levels.
The NSS is one of the nation's premier scouting events for post-collegiate players. It is held annually in Myrtle Beach, S.C. in December. This four-day football experience provides seniors with elite level game competition, a job fair, professional coaching clinic, combine testing, recognition banquet, live game broadcast, fresh game film and full access to our network of North American and European league contacts, coaches, agents and scouts. Ford is an American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) First Team All-American and HAAC All-Conference First Team selection.  Recently, Ford was named as a 2014 Football Gameplan (FBGP) Preseason NAIA All-American and a 2014 USA Football Network, Inc. Preseason All-American. With his offensive line teammates last season, Ford and the Bobcats had the best rushing offense in the HAAC and the fourth best scoring offense in the conference.  In the NAIA, the offensive line led the way for the nation's third-best rushing total.

Lloyd, a linebacker, finished last season with 53 total tackles – 21 unassisted and 32 assisted.  He added eight tackles for a loss of 36.5 yards and added 3.5 sacks for a loss of 18.5 yards.  In addition, Lloyd had two pass deflections, five forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.
