Southeast Community College will be offering Basic English as a Second Language classes this fall in Nebraska City. The classes will begin Aug. 14 and are held at the Center for Children and Families on Tuesday and Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
Southeast Community College in Beatrice sponsors the Adult Education program, a federal and state program that provides basic education skills to individuals who are 16 years of age and older and not enrolled in school. A $20 registration fee is due prior to the first day of class, and pre-registration is required.
The major components of Adult Education include GED preparation for those without a high school diploma; basic skills for those who need to improve in a specific area or enhance their life skills; English as a Second Language for residents who wish to learn to speak, read and write English; and citizenship classes for those wishing to become U.S. citizens.
