  • Rosemary A. Scharp, age 91 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Ambassador in Nebraska City.
    Rosemary was born on August 10, 1922 in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of Carl and Theresa Helen (Ramold) Zeiner. She attended St. Bernard’s Academy in Nebraska City and graduated with the Class of 1939. During World War, she worked in Omaha for Greyhound Bus Company
    On November 13, 1948, she was united in marriage to John Kenneth Scharp at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City and to this union four sons were born: John, Phillip, Walter and Ernest.
    After raising her family she enjoyed working at the Arbor Valley Animal Clinic in Nebraska City, where she worked for 19 years before retiring in the mid 80s.
    She had many hobbies including painting, sewing, gardening, and collecting antique miniature lamps; however her favorite hobby was wood carving - especially wooden spoons. She also enjoyed demonstrating her skills to numerous groups and organizations around the area.
    Rosemary is survived by her sons: John C. Scharp and wife Jackie of Nebr. City; Phillip Scharp and wife Vicki of Nebr. City and Walter Scharp of Dunbar, NE; daughter-in-law: Nancy Scharp of Nebr. City; five grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; sisters: Theresa Kreifels of Ottawa, IL and Monica Prim of Overbrook, KS; other family and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, John Scharp on March 16, 1991; son Ernest “Ernie” Scharp on October 11, 2006 and sister Irene Beccard on March 15, 2014.
    A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City with Fr. Mark Cyza officiating. Burial will follow the Mass at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebr. City.
    A Rosary was recited on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City, followed by the family greeting friends.
    Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City.
