As Nebraska City continues to set sales tax records, local merchants are preparing for the town’s largest retail weekend of the year. This year’s annual Lemon Days, held July 24-24, is being billed as the World’s Biggest Sidewalk Sale in southeast Nebraska.
According to Smithsonian Magazine,  Nebraska City was named the 9th Best Small Town to Visit in America in 2014, and Lemon Days is one of the reasons why.
The weekend of events will feature a Farmers Market on Thursday, a free showing of "The Lego Movie" downtown and Glow Golf on Saturday and all 11 of museums will be open.
Arbor Lodge will feature tours of the world-famous estate of J. Sterling Morton, and the orchards will feature family-friendly activities and wine samplings. This is all in addition to the downtown and city-wide sidewalk bargains.
“This weekend is a fantastic excuse to visit Nebraska City,” said Nebraska City Tourism and Commerce Director Tim Pendrell, “Our Pendleton Outlet will be having some of their biggest discounts ever and our local merchants have some amazing finds. People who haven’t visited in awhile may be surprised by how many of our downtown buildings are currently being redeveloped into new retail and living spaces.”
