  • Vera Jean Plumb, 93 of Farragut, passed away Tuesday morning; June 17, 2014 at the Elm Heights Care Center in Shenandoah.

  • Vera Jean Plumb, 93 of Farragut, passed away Tuesday morning; June 17, 2014 at the Elm Heights Care Center in Shenandoah.
    She was born on January 24, 1921, in Hamburg; the daughter of Ellis and Nettie Ann (Townsend) Catlett.
    United in marriage to Ora Adkins and later to Floyd Plumb.
    She was a member of the Farragut Garden Club, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the United Methodist Church of Riverton. She was a longtime member of the Silver and Gold of Riverton and the Golden Key of Farragut, as well as serving the Cornelia Rebekah Lodge #252 for 68 years.  
    Preceded in death by her parents Ellis and Nettie Catlett, her husbands: Ora Adkins and Floyd Plumb, brothers: Kenny and Ellis “Gabe” Catlett and sister-in-law Lucille Catlett.
    She is survived by her children Shirley Miller and husband Max of Farragut, Linda Adkins of Waterloo, Donna Sorensen of Harlan,  and Robert Adkins of St. Ann, Mo., four grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; brother Keith Catlett and wife Beverly of Hamburg, sister- in-law Margaret Catlett of Alma, Mo., nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
    Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Riverton with Pastor Bruce Hauswirth officiating. Burial will follow the services at Mt. Zion (Utterback) Cemetery southwest of Riverton.
    The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the Shull-Gude Funeral Home in Riverton.
    A memorial fund is being established.
