  • Fremont County deputies were led on a chase by a semi tractor at speeds reaching 96 miles per hour June 8, according to a press release from the Sheriff's Office.
    The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office received a call about an erratic semi tractor in the area of Highway 2 and 370th Ave. Deputies made contact with the driver of the 1994 Kenworth Semi westbound in the eastbound lanes of the 3100 block of Highway 2.
    The driver allegedly failed to yield so was pursued north on Highway 275 in the southbound lane. The driver came to a stop in the 700 block of Main Street in Tabor.
    The driver was transported to a Council Bluffs hospital for a mental evaluation.
    Charges are pending.
    The Tabor Police, Mills County Sheriff’s Office and Sidney  Fire and Rescue assisted the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office in the pursuit.
