  • James Allen Zingg, 58, of Thurman as been arrested for suspicion of assisting or participating in a suicide. He was arrested by Fremont County Sheriff’s deputies.
His bond was set at $10,000 cash bond in relation to the Jan. 19 incident in the 15000 block of Western Avenue.
On Jan. 21, Gwendolyn Nelson Melloway died from acute mixed drug overdose, which the State Medical Examiner ruled a suicide. Her boyfriend, Zingg, reportedly also attempted suicide at the same time but survived.
Investigators allege that Zingg entered into a suicide pact with Melloway on or about Jan. 19.
Zingg’s toxicology report indicated relatively low levels of acetaminophen, salicylate, ethanol and benzodiazapines in his system.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Pottawattamie County Coroner’s Office and State of Iowa Medical Examiner’s Office.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding possible fraud in this case is asked to contact the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office at 712-374-2424.
