“Overall, Nebraska’s economy continues to show improvement over last year,” said Commissioner of Labor Catherine D. Lang. It is not unusual for us to see the unemployment rate slightly increase from February to March.”   Nonfarm employment has increased by 8,127 since March of 2013 and by 2,476 since February of this year. Mining and construction, leisure and hospitality, and manufacturing all showed growth over the month.   The seasonally-adjusted national unemployment rate in July was 6.7 percent, unchanged over the month and down by 0.8 percentage points over the year. April 2014 data will be published Friday, May 16.
