  • DANIEL JOSEPH CAMERLINCK, age 54 of Thurman, IA died Friday, April 11, 2014 at his home unexpectedly. Dan was the son of Bernard Joseph Leo Camerlinck and Lela Louwanda ‘Collins’ Camerlinck. He was born Nov. 14, 1959 in Syracuse, Nebraska. He leaves two sons so dear to his heart, Wyatt Joseph Camerlinck age 11 and Lucas Michael Camerlinck age 9; two sisters, Patricia Ettleman of Sidney, IA and Loretta Wallace and husband Gail of Shenandoah, IA; brother Jeffery Camerlinck and wife Elizabeth of Shenandoah; 5 nieces, 3 nephews, 6 aunts, 3 uncles and 51 first cousins. A loving family who will feel his loss for many years to come
Dan grew up in Fremont County, Iowa and graduated from Sidney Community High School, later graduating from Iowa Central Community Collegein FortDodge, Iowa for Carpentry. But he truly learned the Carpentry trade from his Uncle, Howard Collins of Sidney, Iowa. Howard treated Dan like a son, a bond they both cherished all of their lives.
Dan worked on a ranch in the Sand Hills of Nebraska for a man he called his friend. With the life he made as a “Cowboy”, he married and had two sons. Dan often said it was the happiest time he knew. He moved back to Iowa and worked for a company doing construction, carpentry and farming, but he always longed for his boys. Dan was a friend to everyone and reached out to help anyone in need. He was the kind of guy who always had your back. He was a good son, a loving brother, and a father who wanted more time.
Memorial services will be 10:00 AM Friday, April 18, 2014 at the Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Sidney, IA with Mr. Gary Moles of the Bartlett, Iowa Community Church officiating. Visitation will be with the family from 9:00 AM until service time Friday at the Funeral Chapel, there will be no viewing. Interment of ashes will be in the Sidney, IA Cemetery and, in lieu of flowers, memorials will go to a fund established in Dan’s name. The Crawford-Marshall Funeral Chapel in Sidney, IA is in charge of arrangements.
