  • After losing two conference games earlier in the week, the Peru State softball team bounced back on Saturday to win two Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) games, keeping them in contention for post-season play.

The Bobcats travelled to Canton, Mo., to face the Wildcats and won the first game 2-1 and then won a wild contest 9-7 that lasted ten innings.

With the two important wins, Peru State improved to 22-17 overall and 3-7 in the HAAC.  The Wildcats feel to 15-17 overall and 6-8 in conference play.

The Bobcats were to have played Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan., on Sunday, but Mother Nature had other plans.  The games were postponed and have yet to be rescheduled as they are conference games.

On Tuesday, Peru State will host Midland University in non-conference action with the double header beginning at 3 p.m.  Currently, the Warriors are 16-13 overall and most recently split a double header with Dordt College.

On Friday, the Bobcats will have another Great Plains Athletic Conference opponent when they travel to Orange City, Iowa, to play Northwestern College.  The Vikings are currently 24-15 and have won four in a row, but are scheduled to play four games before playing Peru State.

Then, on Saturday, April 19, the 'Cats will host HAAC opponent, Avila University with the double header scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.  At this point, the Eagles are 8-25 on the season and have lost six in a row.  They are 2-8 in conference play, just right behind the Bobcats.  Between games, the Bobcat parents and seniors will be recognized.
