A total lunar eclipse in the early morning will turn the moon into a "blood moon," according to NASA. The eclipse begins around 2 a.m. EDT, and the moon will turn a reddish orange color around 3 a.m. and stay that way for about an hour. This is the first of four blood moons the U.S. will see over the next year and a half, a rarity, as some periods of history saw no such moon.
