  • Freiling scores double gold at home meet

  • Andrea Freiling scored in four events and was a double gold medalist for the Nebraska City girls’ track team at Tuesday’s home meet at Pioneer Field.

  • Andrea Freiling scored in four events and was a double gold medalist for the Nebraska City girls’ track team at Tuesday’s home meet at Pioneer Field.
    Nebraska City finished third in the girls’ team standings.
    Freiling was first in both the high jump and long jump. She also scored third in the triple jump and the 100 meter dash.
    Katie Zech was also a multiple medal contributor for the Pioneers with placing performances in the high jump, 100 hurdles, and 300 hurdles. Zech also helped the Pioneers score a medal in the 1600 meter relay.
    Top performers on the boys’ side for Nebraska City included Stephen Conner and Andrew Connell.
    Conner was second in the 100, picked up another medal in the 200 and helped the 1600 meter relay team earn a medal as well.
    Connell scored medals in the long jump and shot put.
    The Nebraska City boys’ team finished seventh in the team standings.
    Nebraska City’s track teams will return to action on Thursday, April 17 at the Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca Invite. Event time is 11 a.m.
