  • The Peru State football team and coaching staff is hosting a coaching clinic this year in conjunction with their annual spring game.

The "On the Turf" Clinic and spring game will be held on Saturday, April 26, on the renovated Oak Bowl Field.

The clinic registration will begin at 9:30 in the Press Box of the "new" Oak Bowl.  The schedule for the morning is as follows:

10 a.m. – Welcome and Introduction from Head Coach and Athletic Director Steve Schneider
10:20 a.m. – Offensive Line – Defensive Line and Linebackers – On the Turf
    10:45 a.m. – 1 on 1 Pass Pro/Pass Rush
10:55 a.m. – Drills to Enhance Kickoff Cover Techniques with the "Best Kickoff Drill Ever"
    11:10 a.m. – Offensive/Defensive Skills Groups – On the Turf
    11:40 a.m. – 7 on 7
NOON – Lunch in the Press Box area
    12:30 p.m. – Bobcat Spring Game Pre-Game Warm-up
    1:00 p.m. – Spring Game

A social for all participating coaches will be held following the spring game.

The cost for the clinic is $20 per coach or $50 for a staff of three or more.  For more information, coaches can contact Lou Varley at lvarley@peru.edu.  Registration and more information is available online at http://goo.gl/XGnOYH.

The spring game will be an intra-squad scrimmage.  Although near completion, the Oak Bowl would not officially be ready to host the traditional spring game versus an alumni squad.  The Nebraska State Fire Marshall approval for occupancy and liability insurance issues related to the renovation project have tabled this popular event this spring.
