  • After falling behind in the first game and eventually losing it, the Peru State baseball team jumped out early in the second game and held on to gain a split on the road with Central Methodist University (CMU) in Fayette, Mo., on Wednesday.
The Eagles took the first game 9-5 while Peru State bounced back for a 10-7 win in the second game. With the split, the Bobcats are now 15-6 overall and 6-2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC). CMU is 9-13 and 3-5 in conference play.
The Bobcats were to have played Nebraska Wesleyan University on Thursday. However, a scheduling conflict for the Prairie Wolves forced the postponement of the game.
On Friday and Saturday, Peru State will travel to Olathe, Kan., to face MidAmerica Nazarene University in a pair of double headers. Game time each day is 1 p.m. Currently, the Pioneers are 12-9 on the season and 5-3 in the HAAC. Peru State and MidAmerica Nazarene are both in the Western Division of the HAAC and the teams are two of the four teams in the conference with winning records.
On Monday, the 'Cats are making another trip to Kansas, this time to Manhattan, to face Manhattan Christian College. The double header is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. Through March 25, the Crusaders were 3-25 on the season.
