  • Platteview scratched out a pair of goals and topped the Nebraska City boys’ soccer team 2-0 Monday night.
Pioneer Coach Jesssica Rice said one of Platteview’s goals occured on a free kick and one was the result of a goal keeper/sweeper error.
The frustrating part of the Pioneers’ loss is the fact the Rice knows her team is capable of better play.
“We are hoping to put that game behind us and move forward,” said Rice. “We didn't play like I know we know how to play. We need to play together and focus on possessing the ball.
“We also need to look to shoot,” said Rice. “Goals win games and we haven't been able to find the back of the net. I have faith in these kids and I know they will continue to do good things, it is just a matter of time.”
The Pioneers, 0-2, will play at 6 p.m. Thursday at Waverly.
