  • Track and field teams from Nebraska City, Sidney (Iowa) and Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca were in action at meets at Doane College in Crete and Nebraska Wesleyan College in Lincoln over the weekend.
    Nebraska City finished seventh in the team standings on the boys’ side at Doane with 27 points and seventh in the girls’ standings with 16 points. Nebraska City event winners were Stephen Conner, boys’ 200 meters, and Andrea Freiling, girls’ long jump.
    Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca tied Crete for first place in the girls’ team standings at Doane. Both teams scored 80 points. The Rocket boys’ team was fifth with 42 points.
    Rocket event winners were Turner Moore, boys’ 60 meter hurdles; Haley Harsin, girls’ 400 meters and girls’ 800 meters; Emily Harsin, girls’ 60 meter hurdles; Sarah Antes, girls’ pole vault.
    Sidney finished sixth on the boys’ side with 34 points at Nebraska Wesleyan and was fifth on the girls’ side with 36 points. Cowboy event winners were Jacob Buck, in the 400 meters, and the 1600 meter relay team. Cowgirl event winners were Mackenzie Daffer, 400 meters; Mackenzie Hulsing, 800 meters; and the 3200 meter relay team.
