  • Obituary: Wilmer “Pete” Wohlers, 89

  • Wilmer “Pete” Wohlers, 89, of Syracuse, died March 23, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society - Syracuse. He was born on Feb. 1, 1925 to Henry and Anna (Kirchhoff) Wohlers in rural Syracuse. Pete married Joan A. Hespen on Oct. 19, 1944 at the First Lutheran Church.

  •     Wilmer “Pete” Wohlers, 89, of Syracuse, died March 23, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society - Syracuse. He was born on Feb. 1, 1925 to Henry and Anna (Kirchhoff) Wohlers in rural Syracuse. Pete married Joan A. Hespen on Oct. 19, 1944 at the First Lutheran Church.
        He served in the Navy as a Seabee. Pete retired from Ash Grove. He was a member of the Mid-Otoe County VFW #5547 in Syracuse and American Legion Post #237 in Weeping Water.
        He is survived by sons Ron Wohlers and wife Diana of Weeping Water, Gary Wohlers and wife Barb of Plattsmouth and Mike Wohlers and special friend Linda Simoneau of Gretna; daughters Sue Jordan and husband Bob of LaVista and Cindy Kreifels and husband Kevan of Lincoln; former daughter-in-law Terrie Wohlers, Gretna; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; brother Wayne Wohlers and wife Paula of Syracuse; and sisters-in-law Janice Meadows, Syracuse, and Janet Kreifels and husband Milton of Syracuse.
        He was preceded by wife Joan, brother August Wohlers, sister Luetta Eloge, and granddaughter  Pamela Wohlers.
        Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 27, at 10 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church (North Branch) in rural Avoca. Burial will be at Park Hill Cemetery.
        Visitation is Wednesday, March 26, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. with family greeting friends from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
        Memorials are suggested to the First Lutheran Church (North Branch).
        Arrangements are by Fusselman Allen Harvey Funeral Home, Syracuse.
