  • Firefighting units from Nebraska City, Nebraska City rural fire and Dunbar are on the scene at a series of approximately six grass fires spanning from 52nd to 56 Road along old highway 2.
    The fire report was received around 1:30 p.m. Nebraska City firefighters reported thick smoke and a series of fires as they approached the scene.
    Dunbar was soon dispatched as well as another tanker from Nebraska City rural fire department.
    Dunbar firefighters are attacking the fires from the west end toward east while Nebraska City firefighters started at the fire nearest the water tower.
    Firefighters reporting over the radio said it appeared the fires had been started on purpose.

    At 1:50, firefighters reported that Dunbar firefighters had the three fires furthest west under control.
    Winds reported at 6-10 miles per hour.
