  • A number of parents and students attended the Monday, February 17th meeting of the Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca School Board. Those who spoke requested that the board decline to accept the resignation of Michael Parde, Syracuse band director for 5th-12th grades. The parents and students said that he had been asked to resign, and they respectfully asked for reconsideration. When it came time for the board to vote, a motion was made to accept the resignation. However, the motion was not seconded to even begin discussion among the board or to vote. So, at this time, the resignation was not accepted. The board accepted the resignation of middle school principal, Mike Wentz.
A special meeting will be held Wednesday in the elementary lunchroom at 6 p.m.
