A two vehicle head-on accident south of Plattsmouth on Highway 75 last night injured three, including a 23-year-old Johnson man.

A head-on collision on Highway 75 south of Plattsmouth at about 9 p.m. Saturday night injured three. Two were transported by LifeNet, including Johnson resident Tyler M. Westerfield, 23.

Cass County Sheriff William C. Brueggemann reported deputies found a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Westerfield and a 2001 Buick LeSabre driven by Natasha A. Rice, 21, of Omaha, had collided on the yellow center line of Highway 75, north of Wiles Road. Rice had one passenger, Samantha J. Rowell, 22, of Bellevue.

Deputies report Westerfield was traveling northbound on Highway 75 in the southbound lane of travel. Rice was southbound on Highway 75 in the southbound lane of travel, and had observed the Westerfield vehicle in her lane of traffic. Rice swerved to her left and entered the northbound lane/oncoming lane of travel.

Westerfield reportedly swerved to his right to re-enter his proper lane. Rice swerved back to her right and they collided head-on.
Extrication equipment was used to free Westerfield from his vehicle by Plattsmouth and Murray Fire & Rescue.

Westerfield and Rice were transported by Lifenet Helicopter and Rowell transported by Plattsmouth Rescue, all to Creighton Hospital with undetermined injuries.
