  • Four people recently charged with racking up over $3,500 in merchandise and cash on Green Dot cards illegally at Wal-Mart Feb. 1 have been arrested in Kansas.
Warrants had been issued for Jamarcus Jordan, 24; Melody Williams, 26; Jonathan McAfee, 25; and Jonathan Wise, 22, who were charged with conspiracy to commit a class 3 felony.
The four were picked up in Overland Park, Kan., said County Attorney David Partsch.
They will have to go through an extradition process or waive that before they appear in Otoe County. Two of them face additional charges in Kansas, he said.
The four are suspected of talking a store clerk into overriding the system at Wal-Mart after it indicated their checks were invalid. They then allegedly purchased merchandise and added cash to Green Dot cards totaling $3,563.01 before leaving the register, said Partsch.
The four were arrested after a routine traffic stop in Kansas for suspicion of identity theft.
While Kansas authorities did not have sufficient information to hold two of the individuals, those two were arrested on the Nebraska warrants, said Partsch.
