Aurolyn Majors, 92, of Nebraska City died Jan. 19, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Nebraska City. She was born Margaret Aurolyn Thomas on March 29, 1921 in rural Brownville to Frank E. and Frances Naomi (Dougherty) Thomas. She graduated from Brownville schools in 1938 then attended Peru State College.
She married George “Butch” Majors on July 12, 1942 at Sabetha, Kan.
Aurolyn worked at American Meter Company in Nebraska City, at Dr. George Mann’s Optometry Office and later at Earl May Garden Center for several years. She enjoyed her job at the garden center tending to the plants and flowers and visiting with the customers.
She is survived by sons George Majors and wife Connie of Colorado Springs, Colo., Harold Majors and wife Connie of Nebraska City and Keith Majors and wife Roberta of Dahinda, Ill.; four grandsons; two great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and brother Marvin Thomas and wife Norma of Topeka, Kan.
She was preceded by her husband, George, Dec. 6, 2006 and brother Frank Thomas.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Rev. Rodger Good officiating.
Burial will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery at Brownville.
The family will greet friends from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at Gude Mortuary.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimers Association or Tabitha Hospice.
