  • Nebraska City’s sports teams will wrap up their pre Christmas schedules with games this week.
    The Pioneer girls’ and boys’  basketball teams both picked up their first wins of the season against Conestoga last week before falling in games at Plattsmouth. Both teams will play at Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca on Tuesday  night with action starting at 6 p.m. Elkhorn visits for a girl-boy doubleheader at 6 p.m. on Friday.     The Nebraska City wrestling team posted an impressive third place finish at the two-day Council Bluffs Classic showcase tournament over the weekend. Nebraska City will compete in another showcase tourney this week as the Pioneers travel to wrestle at the Flatwater Fracas in Grand Island on Friday and Saturday.     Lourdes swept Humboldt-TRS in home action last week. The Knight girls’ and boys’ teams will play games on Tuesday and Saturday this week. The Knights play at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Pawnee City and at 1 p.m. at Weeping Water on Saturday. Read about the Humboldt-TRS games in the Friday paper.
